...ahhh election day. Interestingly enough, the news is citing record numbers of people heading out to vote. And historically, record numbers mean a change in government...I am not too big on politics but I do know that if a certain party gets in today there will be a lot of changes and not good ones. There are so many programs out there that rely on funding and without a blink, they will terminate the little ones that need the money the most. It's sad. I think our leaders really need to be enculturated to what really happens to the lower income families, families who live in poor conditions or those who live on a reservation. Do the politicians think that by reading a document or getting briefed by their assistant they can actually understand how these people are living? Do they think flying in for an hour to a remote community they can really grasp the depair and poverty these people endure on a day to day, year to year and in some instances, lifetime basis?
I, for one, dont think they have any empathy. They live in posh homes, no doubt have a maid, their black polished shoes cost more than two weeks worth of groceries for a lot of homes. Politicians get training courses to learn things like "How to properly use your napkin" and I am NOT joking...my husband works for the federal government, I got the inside scoop on some of the insane training courses higher executives have to take. How about....skipping Napkin Folding 101 and going to spend a month living in a low income housing community. Good luck, I hope you don't piss your pants facing the real truth of the state of our country.
