Here is the definition of the disease...
What is celiac disease?
Celiac disease is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. People who have celiac disease cannot tolerate a protein called gluten, found in wheat, rye, and barley. Gluten is found mainly in foods, but is also found in products we use every day, such as stamp and envelope adhesive, medicines, and vitamins.
You realize that this could seriously affect my bread eating...I LOVE bread....I don't know how I could live without bread...sniff sniff...to make it official I do have to go take a celiac test and it is going to cost me $167 - can you say OUCH? That bites....this was all determined this morning through my allergy testing. Yes it was no surprise that I am allergic to like everything *sigh* but here are my top five allergies....drum roll please....
- Horses - yep, horses scored the highest reaction from me so I guess horseback riding at sunset on the beach is out of the question....
- Wheat - see celiac allergy
- Cats - total asthma causing animal
- Grass - I am not allowed to cut the grass anymore *darn darn* (inside giggle)
- Fresh Water Fish - all kinds apparantly
He did not test me for grapes because well...it is a rare allergy and they don't have a vial of it but when I described my symptoms he recommended I just stay away from grapes because uh yeah, I am allergic to them.
Now my back and arms are all stabbed and pricked up like I am some sort of junkie...and I am cranky and hungry...hungry for bread....
